Then came "With a Tangled Skein". With a Tangled Skein is not as good as Bearing an Hourglass, and totally inferior to On a Pale Horse. I am sorry to say that I see a pattern here, and it is not one I tangled skein book so much.

It seems that I like each book in the series less than the one before it. There are a lot of things wrong with With a Tangled Skein/5(). Tangled Skein Hardcover – January 1, by David Stuart Davies (Author)/5(59). My first Orczy book and a fun read.

Not a mind-blowing story and, of course, it's bathed in olde-timey ideas about love (i.e., you know your true love on sight and fall helplessly in love after only a few words are spoken, etc.) but the "tangled skein" of the story was quite interesting and it was a fun alternate look at English history/5(8).

Hence the rebranding on the cover of my edition of the book. The mystery in the book is different from the movie, as well. In the book, Basil is hired by Mr. and Mrs. Proudfoot to find their missing twin daughters, Angela and Agatha.

The back cover copy is the ransom note: Baker Street Mice — Beware. So far the twins are safe. When the man Niobe loved was shot, she learned that she had been the target, in a devious plot of the Devil's. Hoping for revenge, she discovered, too late, how intricate his scheming was, and that he had managed to trap her son and her granddaughter, Luna.

Niobe's only chance to save them was to accept a challenge by the Prince of Deceit--a challenge to be decided in Hell and in a maze of 3/5(19).

The book is written as a novel in poems, reflecting both Xiomara’s development as a poet and Acevedo’s background as a noted slam poet herself.
