Overall, I would say that The Water Cure is a solid 4* book. It has a great, interesting plot, setting, set of characters and really great imagery and use of language.

The Water Cure is the first book I selected to read from the recently released Booker longlist. I chose this one simply as it ended up being the first one I came across in the local bookshop.

I went into this blind not even aware it was a "female dystopia"/5. He discovered water could prevent, relieve and cure many painful, degenerative diseases. Evin prison proved an "ideal stress laboratory," and despite being offered an earlier release, he chose to stay an extra four months in prison to complete his research into the relationship of dehydration and bleeding peptic ulcer disease/5(72).

The Water Cure is not a simple book. It unspools ideas around solidarity and sisterhood, danger and gender, and the ways that families become their own Author: Annalisa Quinn.
